ANZAC Day Poem by Tilly Trudgett (11 years old - 2015)
Lest We Forget.
A poem written by 11 year old Tilly Trudgett from Orange.
The scent of rosemary fills the air
As the harsh wind whips my hair
Onto the wretched battlefield we walk
There is no longer time for talk.
The fun with family has come to an end
And now it’s time for us to defend
Our country, our people, the ones we love
Then from the corner of my eye I see a dove.
The symbol of peace, not war
And I realise I want to fight no more
But it's too late, I get a bullet to the head
The hard ground becomes my eternal bed.
A lifetime of dreams now ended
Another young life to war surrendered
And that is why on this day in November
Our country stops - to remember.

ANZAC Day service, 25th April, 2011
On a clear crisp morning seventy people arose early to pay their respects to the fallen soldiers, ex-servicemen and women from previous wars at the Dawn Service in Stuart Town. This year we were privileged to have Leon Paix who is a bugler, play the “Last Post” at the service. His wife Jacki attended the service with him. Rod Althofer also gave his time and travelled to the village to give an interesting and moving address. The 11 o’clock service was also very well attended. In memory of their father Tom, Helen Wykes and Judy Finn led the march carrying the Anzac Flag. We were honoured to have local member Andrew Gee as our 2011 guest speaker. His sincere and informative speech was well received with acclamation.
